Book Release: Its finally here!

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,

Please join me in celebrating the release of my first book Smoked Mullet Cornbread Crawdad Memory, the 2009 winner of the Native Writers' Circle of the Americas (NWCA), First Book Award in Poetry, unde
r the direction of Dr. Geary Hobson (now Director Emeritus NWCA). Published by the award-winning Mongrel Empire Press, and released this October 12th. The Official Press release, from Mongrel Empire and NWCA can be viewed online: Press Release. I will be giving a debut reading and book signing next week in Natchitoches Louisiana (Cane River, my great grandmother's familial homelands) at NSULA, while also sharing a keynote presentation with the remarkable Carolyn Dunn PhD, discussing Native Roots & Identity within Creole Culture.
YOU can order a SIGNED copy of the book at: Personalized Signed Book copy
Or unsigned at Amazon.com: Rain Gomez on Amazon

This book is especially close to my heart for many reasons. Yes it is the first of what I hope are many, and I hope to do my family, communities, and mentors proud. However, more than anything I am honored to have my father (with input from his father, my granddaddy) showcased-whose family recipes grace this text---and my lil sister Tee, whose incomparable stunning beadwork graces the cover. Publishing my first book with my family's involvement is immeasurably rewarding.

Please feel free to pass the press release on, and I encourage you to order a copy. Moreover, I cannot thank my family, (my Hubby, Mom, Dad, Sisters, and Brother) enough for their unwavering love and support, along with my fabulous friends, family, and colleagues who have supported my work, growth, and commitment to writing, community, and education. I am forever impacted and indebted to so many of... Yakoke, mési, mvto, wopida, gracias--Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you :-)
Rain Gomez
